Peace Greater Minds,
Tony Peralta does not consider the Peralta Project a "brand", nor does he make "collections". He likes to think of his tee shirts and distinctive collaborations as "series", because in his right mind, he does not want to be confined by the standards of "fashion". Last night he told me that he is just expressing how he feels, the same way he does on canvas through his artwork, which are where his tee's are inspired from.
Tony invited me to his humble, but yet filled with so much "personality", Inwood apartment; yup he represents UPTOWN !! He called me over to preview his Summer '08 Series "The Rob & Hood Theory", and believe me when i tell you it isn't easy to have a series of tee's that are ALL worth buying. For Tony Peralta, it's so much more than "t-shirts", because during the season you can catch him presenting (some live) art installations in some of NY's best boutiques on each of his series pieces. He also has a DOPE, i mean REAL DOPE sunglasses collabo that will blow your mind, but more on that later. While at his crib, he took a polaroid picture of me last night with this camera (peep it on the left of picture 6) that must've been at least 20 years old, which showed me his appreciation for photography as well. At heart and in person Tony is a true fan of inspiration which allows him to aspire through Hip-Hop, art, and his emotions in life.
